The House that Dad Built

Traveled to Alturas for a meeting with USFS and passed through McArthur.

The Crummetts should recognize the house that was a home for portion of our childhood. Not much has changed. The house seemed smaller and I did not remember the grand view we had of both Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen from the front windows.

Wow The house looks identical to the way it looked 24 years ago when we lived in it. Brings back a lot of memories just looking at it here are a few:
1.)You swinging a long pipe around as fast as you could and Sam walking into it and getting knocked out right there in the gravel. I remember thinking cool he got knocked out, that's awsome.
2.) Me and Paul playing Army and taking a sniper shot out of the car port at the neighbor driving down the drive way shattering his rear window thinking we didnt have any BB's in the gun.
3.) You shooting 7 quail with one shot off the front deck inthe frosty morning.

Just looking at the picture makes me feel young again.

I do not remember the knocking Sam out with the pipe, which I am glad, for I have tried to purge most of the physical and emotional abuse I handed out as a big brother from my memory. Although I do remember swinging Sam from a rope tied onto a bike inner tube in a wide circular arc in the car port. When he was close to horizontal from the centrifugal force, the tube snapped and he went flying out into the gravel driveway - his head missing the concrete footing by inches as flew by.

The place does look very similar - the chicken coop is gone but, as you can see if you click on the photo, the 4x4 cedar fence on the right is still standing. I recall helping Dad build it.
